I don’t remember what writing book the advice came from, but somewhere along the way I started attacking each blank page with the sentence “this is how it started…”
It’s a way of taking the pressure off making something big and meaningful from the get-go, which is a lot of the challenge I face when trying to start anything new.
In elementary school I was going to be a marine biologist; in high school, an animator; in college, a novelist; and by my mid-20’s I was just trying to get through the day without falling to pieces.
I hope to use this place as a journal to practice creativity again, with less pressure to perform and have it look any certain kind of way. I love lots of things and am not always organized in how I explore them. Writing, drawing, my cats, cooking, gardening, photography, my cats, reading, video games, my…
